We're Moving
Fierce Imaginations is moving its newsletter from MailChimp to Substack. Some of you may have already received an email or notification or two from Substack. I'm doing this for several reasons.
One, I want to get to know my audience better. Substack allows me to interact with my subscribers on a more intimate level. I can get messages from subscribers and even interact with them as if connected on social media. That's what Substack is, essentially. It's a social media for creators to connect with their audiences directly.
Second, Substack has a way for me to monetize my work a bit better. There are subscription levels I can make use of, though I haven't decided how yet. I'm going to try to figure that out and get back to everyone.
I do know that subscribers, even those who can't afford to pay, will get updates and an occasional freebie flash fiction piece. I know that not everyone can afford to pay, and I don't want those who can't to feel "punished." Those who can afford it will get extras and previews of things to come as I ramp up my efforts. I do, however, plan on making things very affordable.
The final reason is bittersweet. I can no longer send emails from MailChimp because I've reached the limit on followers for their free tier. That's great for me, but it's also hindered my growth unless I pay them a ridiculous rate. I don't use their services frequently enough to justify the cost they desire. Nothing against MailChimp. What they do is fantastic. I simply cannot afford their rates currently.
So please bear with me as we transition and learn a whole new way of doing things. A learning curve will be involved, but I will do my best to make it worth everyone's time.
As always, thank you for being a subscriber, and I hope that you will follow me into this new chapter of my journey as an author. If you choose not to, I understand. Simply know that I will not try to flood your inboxes or that sort of thing. It does, however, make keeping my readers like you better updated a possibility.
If you stick around, I recommend downloading the app. It's easy to navigate, and you can follow so many great storytellers there, both indie and traditionally published. Joe Hill, Chuck Palahnuik, and many other well-known names are on there. Give it a shot. I hope you enjoy your discoveries and stick with me through it all.
Thank you so much!
